Homocysteine-lowering Compound

University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign researchers have developed a new method for lowering elevated homocysteine levels in humans. A naturally occurring compound commonly found in seaweed, according to the findings, is efficient in reducing and normalizing high levels of homocysteine, which has been linked to in­creased risk of cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer’s disease and cartilage degradation.
